Monitoring thermal discharges with the DNR

Last Friday we worked with the DNR to place 9 of our thermistors in Lincoln Creek, the Menomonee River, the Kinnickinnic River and Edgerton Channel, a tributary to the KK.
Thermistors are electronic devices that are submerged under water to take temperature readings once per hour over the course of the spring, summer and fall. The DNR hopes to use this data to better regulate companies that discharge warm water to waterways. Warm water discharges are important to monitor because warmer water is less suitable for aquatic life.
