Invasive crayfish in Germantown

Invasive crayfish have been spotted in a pond in Germantown near the Menomonee River.
The red swamp crayfish, a species native to the Gulf Coast area and the Mississippi River downstream from southern Illinois, causes erosion and algae blooms, eats salmon eggs and outcompetes native crayfish.
