Migratory Bird Management
I grew up in West Lafayette, Indiana, on the Wabash River. Through my dad and Boy Scouts I spent a lot of time canoeing on the Wabash and Tippecanoe rivers, Wildcat Creek, and Sugar Creek. I received a degree in history, studied church history and theology, and taught high school social studies in Indianapolis, South Bend and St. Paul. In St Paul, in addition to history and government, I team taught environmental classes and coordinated the outdoor wilderness portion of the curriculum. In March of 2002, I moved to Milwaukee to be closer to my son who lives in Waukesha.
I worked at the Urban Ecology Center as Urban Adventures Coordinator, and currently work with Migratory Bird Management.

Land Steward
I’m a tree-hugger, designer, and optimist, and work toward something Maya Angelou wrote: “when you learn, teach. When you get, give”. A former engineer and software developer, I've realigned my work with my ecological passions... I recently completed four years of studying ecologically-based landscape architecture in Georgia, where I helped develop alternative stormwater management plans for the city there, and worked on local watershed issues. I now work independently in Milwaukee; I also serve on the boards of Wild Ones and the Door County Land Trust, teach Environmental Literacy at MIAD, and love to go on botanizing walks.

Honorary Board Member Emerita
I have been a member since the organization's infancy. I bring to the river my life experiences (I was a psychotherapist working with the dying and the grieving). I have been photographing the river for 18 years. The river has been a healing presence in my life; hence, I have become a dedicated advocate for the river. I want to share my deep love of the river with others and hope that others will be reminded of the importance of rivers in their lives as well as in the life of the planet.
