As the source of drinking water for over 40 million people and 95% of the US fresh surface water supply, the Great Lakes are a critical resource to North America. Our goal with this campaign is to position and communicate the value of the Great Lakes and their surrounding watersheds and tributary rivers as essential “living infrastructure” that protects our drinking water supply and to integrate this framing into a highly coordinated approach to protecting these source waters.
Waterkeeper Alliance and four local Waterkeeper Organizations in the Great Lakes region are seeking support for a new, highly strategic advocacy, policy, and communications campaign to commence in 2019 – focused on source water protection and maintaining the excellent water quality of our shared drinking water supply in the Great Lakes.
