Our January 2019 Business Member Spotlight is Inter-Fluve!

Recently, Inter-Fluve designed the river and floodplain elements, and constructed the The Underwood Creek Restoration project.  The project took an urban 1960s era concrete stream devoid of habitat value, and restored it to a natural looking and functioning stream with vibrant aquatic habitat and improved flood control.

This project was designed with fish and flood control in mind. Large boulders were used to create micro pool habitat for migrating fish, and were also used encourage deposition of fine sediment on bars where trees will eventually grow. Lake run brown trout were observed migrating upstream before the project was completed and new green corridors are critical for the migration of birds and wildlife from the Menomonee River system

“Inter-Fluve’s mission is to restore rivers, and we believe that Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s mission is right in line with ours. We have been intimately involved with many river restoration projects in the Milwaukee area and want to support Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s efforts in any way that we can.”
