Growing up near Cedar Creek helped inspire his love for the outdoors. Mike has hiked hundreds of miles\, throughout the United States and beyond\, and enjoys helping others connect to nature and discover parks and other public lands to explore. He is presenting a series of photographs taken mostly in the Milwaukee River Basin but entirely within Wisconsin. \nMaura is presenting her North American rug hooking. Rugs are made by pulling loops of yarn or fabric through a stiff backing material\, such as burlap or linen. A hook mounted in a handle\, usually made of wood\, is used to pull the loops through the backing material. These rugs are made using sustainably-sourced natural fibers and are inspired by some of Mike’s photographs.
