Help Protect the Clean Water Act!
The Trump administration is planning to eliminate Clean Water Act protections for many of our nation’s waters and communities. This rulemaking removes many historically protected rivers, streams, lakes, wetlands, and other waters from its “Waters of the United States” definition. In particular, protection would be removed from ephemeral streams as well as isolated wetlands, prairie potholes, quarries, and inland lakes that do not connect to larger, navigable waters. By drastically reducing the waters protected, it will cause untold damage to people, wildlife, and the country as a whole.
The Clean Water Act gave us the legal framework to protect and clean up the nation’s waterways after decades of neglect and it gives any citizen the right to sue polluters to protect our waters. This proposal puts every waterway, no matter the size, at risk and threatens our drinking water.
