Rolling. Rolling. Rolling on the River….We’re thrilled to bring you a Spotify list of our team’s favorite water songs. Tune in while you’re staying Safer At Home. We promise it’s worth a listen.
We’re incredibly indebted to the local businesses in our communities that support us regularly. They believe in a swimmable, fishable future for our rivers, and we believe in them. Right now, our local restaurants and small businesses are in crisis. Not only are they trying to keep staff employed, they are struggling to keep their businesses afloat. If you can, show some of those nearest and dearest to us some love during this tough time.
Our team shared some of their favorite recipes. If you try one of them, let us know how it goes! Or if you have a favorite be sure to send it our way, we’d love to try.
These days are hard for everyone, and it’s easy to feel helpless. But what if we reconnect with nature and help our rivers instead? Spring has officially sprung and, if you’re spending time outside, you’ve surely noticed that litter has too! This April, during Earth Month, we’re hoping you’ll consider taking a bag or bucket and some gloves along on your next trip around the block to help pick up trash. It’s easy. It feels good. It’s safe. But more importantly, it makes a difference.
We have made the difficult, but necessary, decision to postpone the 25th Annual Milwaukee Riverkeeper Spring Cleanup until later this year, due to the coronavirus and current social distancing requirements. In place of a large cleanup event, we will be hosting a virtual cleanup challenge during Earth Month, April. Stay tuned for details.
The COVID-19 is an evolving situation that we at Milwaukee Riverkeeper are taking very seriously. As we watch it unfold around the globe, in the United States and here at home, we acknowledge that the disruption and uncertainty associated with the current situation is unsettling for everyone. We feel deep empathy for those who have been affected by this pandemic and those who will be impacted.
