Annual Boat Parade Artist Application

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!

Be a part of the annual Milwaukee Riverkeeper Boat Parade on September 24th, 2023.

The annual Milwaukee Riverkeeper Boat Parade is a celebration of the rivers and waterways that run through the city of Milwaukee! The art installations give artists a large canvas and performance space to bring ideas about water to the people of Milwaukee. Check out highlighted boat parade floats over the years.

Artists can apply to receive a stipend of $1,000 to create the art installations, and $1,000 for supplies. All applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM on June 6th, 2023. Submissions will be reviewed by the planning committee, and artists will be notified by mid-June if their design was chosen. Accepted artists must attend a mandatory orientation.

The Milwaukee Riverkeeper Boat Parade will be on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

2023 Theme: 

“An Active River is a Happy River.” This year’s theme is a reminder that WE as a community are an integral part of our waterways.  At Milwaukee Riverkeeper we’re striving for rivers that our communities can safely enjoy.  We’re proud of the work happening to restore our rivers, but it will take all of us working together to finally achieve swimmable, fishable, and drinkable waterways.
