CALLING ALL ARTISTS!
Be a part of the annual Milwaukee Riverkeeper Boat Parade on September 19th, 2021
The annual Milwaukee Riverkeeper Boat Parade is a celebration of the rivers and waterways that run through the city of Milwaukee! The art installation floats are a unique and special feature to the parade with the goal of creating something similar to the ever-popular Bosch Parade in Holland. The art installation section of the parade gives artists a large canvas and performance space to bring ideas about water to the people of Milwaukee. You can check out artist floats from 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Artists can apply to receive a stipend of $1,000 to create the art installations and $1,000 for supplies. All applications must be submitted by 11:59 PM on July 9, 2021. Submissions will be reviewed by the planning committee, and artists will be notified in early July if their design was chosen. Accepted artists must attend a mandatory orientation.
The Milwaukee Riverkeeper Boat Parade will be on Sunday, September 19, 2021.
2021 Theme: RETURN OF THE RIVER
This year as our world reawakens and reconnects, let us not forget the ways we found comfort in our waterways during the challenges of last year. Art and water collide in this celebration of these connections to water.
We must move forward without forgetting the lessons of our past. We are proud of the work happening to restore our rivers, but we must remember, this progress is fragile. It is only by working together to care for each other and the water that sustains us that we may finally see the return of the river.
