Friends of the Rivers,
In a time of so much division, our rivers have the power to unite us in our shared belief that everyone has a right to clean, safe water.
Our rivers form the lifeblood of our neighborhoods, flowing through and knitting together a myriad of communities. They meet in the heart of our Basin before flowing into Lake Michigan, the drinking water source for millions. Although we are surrounded by freshwater, this precious resource isn’t endless and its future is impacted by our choices.
That’s why, with your support, we strive daily to protect the health of our waterways through our volunteer-led water monitoring program, the largest in the state. By collecting data and collaborating with researchers around the world, we are learning more about emerging contaminants, like PFAS, that put our health at risk. We’re testifying at public hearings and advocating for new and stronger regulations to keep our water clean. We’re working to restore impaired waterways and reconnect our rivers through dam removal and fish passage, which are vital to protecting our communities and ecosystems from the effects of climate change.
And, none of it is possible without dedicated volunteers and supporters like you – thank you!
For nearly 30 years, Milwaukee Riverkeeper has been powered by people like you, who understand how essential our rivers, creeks and streams are. By connecting with the community through science education and action, we’ve built a movement around clean water in Southeast Wisconsin. But, our story is not over. Your passion, concerns, ideas and needs continue to drive our mission and this movement. Your voice is our voice, we are stronger, can go farther and have a greater impact together.
Long-term change demands innovative, collaborative solutions. Invest in the future of clean water by making a donation today. Together, we can write the next chapter and help our waters continue to thrive!
