Our Culture
Who We Are
We are a small, committed team working out of downtown Milwaukee! When we’re not in our shared working space, we’re out connecting with community members, in local streams collecting data, educating the public, and fighting for fishable, swimmable, clean waterways.

Our Values
Water Unites Us
Our rivers flow through many neighborhoods and connect a wide range of people and places. Milwaukee Riverkeeper is committed to honoring that shared connection by ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy, care for, and benefit from clean, healthy waterways.
Just as our rivers are shaped by a rich mix of landscapes and ecosystems, our organization is strengthened by the different perspectives and experiences of those who make up our community. We believe that lasting change comes when everyone is invited to participate and empowered to protect the waters that sustain us all.
By fostering curiosity, empathy, and collaboration, we can move forward together—just like a river—toward a future where healthy rivers are a source of both pride and opportunity for everyone.
Making Real Change
Living & Acting on Our Beliefs
At Milwaukee Riverkeeper, we believe in living by our guiding values in all things we do. In practice, this looks like:
- Leading with hospitality
- Making decisions as a team, with input from all voices
- A willingness to share in the labor
- Progress is prioritized over perfection
- Valuing experience and perspective
- Having fun at work – together
- Encouraging mental and physical health
- Nurturing personal and career goals
