Official Statement on Sewage Overflows

Official Statement on Sewage Overflows

We, as a community, need to come together with our city leaders and leaders at MMSD to aggressively address this problem and devise innovative solutions to fix our old and failing infrastructure. Efforts to install more green infrastructure and practices to collect, treat, and infiltrate storm water need to be massively scaled up to make a difference.

Advocate for a Safe & Swimmable South Shore Park

We urge the community to advocate for the proposal that moves the beach further south to the “rocky beach,” which has dramatically better water quality due to better water flow and a better location across from the breakwater opening. South Shore Beach only had “good” water quality 41% of the time in 2018—it had an “advisory” or “closed” status 59% of the time.
