Intro to Paddling
Description:
First-time paddler or beginner? Get your feet wet with Milwaukee Riverkeeper and the experts at Forward Outdoor. We’ll go over the basics of paddling, safety, and rules of the river. No experience is necessary, this short trip will help attendees get comfortable launching, taking out, and paddling. Attendees will experience a river trip that’s easy to replicate on your own. Paddlers will meet at Badger Meter Park before being shuttled to Thiensville Village Park. There, Milwaukee Riverkeeper staff will lead a 15-minute lesson on the basics of paddling technique before a paddle back to Badger Meter Park via the Milwaukee River.
Participants should arrive at the parking lot in Badger Meter Park at 9:45 AM, overflow parking is available on-street nearby. At 10:00 AM the shuttle will leave for Thiensville Village Park where the boats will be unloaded and everyone will be fit for personal flotation devices and paddles. Expect a relaxed pace with time built in for teaching and a short bathroom stop. Attendees will make it back to Badger Meter Park around 1:00 PM.
