Smart Salting Workshop

Description:

Milwaukee Riverkeeper is inviting winter maintenance professionals to participate in a free Smart Salting Workshop led by the Wisconsin Salt Wise Coalition. The event will be held in UWM’s School of Freshwater Sciences (600 E Greenfield Ave).

Participants in this workshop will learn state-of-the-art winter maintenance practices, including transitioning to liquid deicers and reducing overall salt application. The course concludes with a Smart Salting Assessment. Participants who successfully complete the exam will earn the Smart Salting Certification.

This workshop is part of a larger effort, supported by the Fund for Lake Michigan, to increase awareness of the impact of winter deicing activities on local waterways through Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s public education and monitoring work. The generous support from Fund for Lake Michigan allows us to provide this course at NO COST to attendees!

Any questions can be directed to our Events Specialist, Allie Mendez: allie@milwaukeeriverkeeper.org.
