Guided Tour: MMSD Lab

Register Here!

Description:

Step behind the scenes of the largest wastewater treatment lab in the State of Wisconsin with a guided tour of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District’s Central Laboratory. This experience offers a rare glimpse into the science and technology that keep our waterways clean and our communities healthy.

Learn about the process of cleaning and returning wastewater to our rivers and Lake Michigan, while ensuring compliance with environmental standards—work that plays a vital role in protecting our region’s water resources. Led by knowledgeable staff, the tour explores how water quality is monitored during the reclamation process, as well as in our local waterways. You’ll get a look at the cutting-edge testing, sampling, and analysis techniques MMSD’s water quality experts employ seven days a week to track the health of our water.

Students, science enthusiasts, and anyone simply curious about what happens after the flush will leave this tour with a new appreciation for the specialists watching over our water supply. Not all heroes wear capes!
